GREENWOOD PRIMARY ECO ART COMPETITION

The Green Ticket was recently asked by Gill Wells of Greenwood Primary School in Plettenberg Bay to judge a competition and give a talk on global warming and climate change.

The children of all grades were asked to create something functional out of recycled waste material. The results were amazing! Declaring a winner was not easy as each entry showed great skill and innovative thinking. Below are some of the entries.

Before the awards were handed out The Green Ticket held a talk on Climate Change and how everyone can get involved to fight it.

We are looking forward to doing more work with Greenwood Primary in the future, thank you to everyone involved!

Greenwood is a privately owned independent primary school with a strong environmental profile situated 2km from the centre of Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape's beautiful Garden Route. It provides co-educational facilities for 130 children.

MADIBA'S 90 TREES

Madiba's 90 Trees was a fantastic initiative by Jean Sparg of the Plettenberg Bay botanical society. In honour of Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday the project was designed to bring together different communities in a fellow project of nurturing and caring the growth of our Nation symbolised by 90 indigenous trees.

The location of the trees was chosen accordingly - in between the predominantly white town area and the townships, therefore easily accessible for everyone.

Every tree has a sponsor and a volunteer caring for the tree. The project has been supported by the Bitou Municipality who brought in water and man power for the day and promised fencing and a permanent water supply to help further caring for the trees.

The Green Ticket.org was there on the day, sponsoring and planting a tree within this great initiative.
